Celebrate Life in Costa Rica! Won’t you join me?

Winter has a way of grinding us down.

By the time January rolls around, the holidays are behind us — but the exhaustion, the overstimulation, the “I need a real break” feeling? That tends to stick around. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking there has to be more than this, my Kripalu and Energy Medicine Yoga retreat might be just what you’re looking for. Recover from the holidays and stresses of your life by beating the winter blues in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. You will have an opportunity to slow down, take a few deep breaths, and soak in the beauty of the present moment. Did I mention that the weather is absolutely beautiful?

From January 23–30, 2027, I’m leading my annual yoga retreat at Pura Vida Retreat and Spa in Costa Rica — and I would love for you to be there. Come and experience the MAGIC of this retreat.

What This Retreat Is About

This isn’t a bootcamp. It’s not about nailing a handstand or burning calories. It’s about slowing down, breathing deeply, and remembering what it feels like to actually be in your body — without the noise of everyday life drowning everything out.

Together, we’ll practice Kripalu Yoga each morning. If you’re not familiar with Kripalu, here’s the short version: it’s yoga that meets you exactly where you are. The focus is on listening to your body, respecting its limits, and moving with kindness rather than force. Beginners and longtime practitioners both find something meaningful in it, every single time.

Throughout the week we’ll also explore Energy Medicine Yoga, pranayama, restorative practices, meditation, mindful eating, and calming rituals you can actually take home with you. Each day has its own theme — a thread that weaves through morning practice all the way to our evening closing circle — guiding us deeper into what it means to truly celebrate being alive.

My wonderful assistant Chrissy Mignogna will be joining me, and together we’ll hold the space for whatever this week needs to be for you.

What a Day Actually Looks Like

You’ll wake up and move your body in a morning yoga class as the day begins. Breakfast follows, then a late-morning workshop or — if you’re feeling adventurous — one of the eco-tours available throughout the week. After a leisurely lunch, the afternoon is yours: the pool, a siesta, a walk through the grounds, or a treatment at the wellness center. We reconvene for an evening workshop, share dinner together, and close the day in circle.

It’s structured enough to feel held, and spacious enough to feel like a real vacation.

The Place

Pura Vida Retreat and Spa in Costa Rica is genuinely spectacular. Think lush tropical grounds, a pool, a hot tub under the stars, and views that make you stop mid-sentence and just look. The wellness center offers amazing treatments, there are optional eco-adventure tours on offer, and the food is nourishing and delicious. It’s the kind of place that does half the work for you — just being there starts to loosen something.

Who This Is For

You might be a dedicated yogi or you might be a beginner yoga student. You definitely don’t need to be flexible or have any idea what Energy Medicine Yoga even is. What helps is a genuine desire to slow down and take care of yourself — and maybe a little willingness to try something new.

This retreat is for people who want to start 2027 feeling genuinely restored, not just rested. For people who are ready to remember — or maybe discover for the first time — what it feels like to be fully, joyfully alive.
