Mindfulness Books to Take You Through the New Year

I am an avid reader (and collector) of books on mindfulness, such that I recently discovered the need to have new book shelves built in my office so I can house them all. I recently read the list of the top ten mindful books of 2016 from Mindful Magazine, and found a few that will definitely go on my reading list for the next year. I was also more than pleased and delighted that my book, The Mindfulness-Based Eating Solution, was on this list as well as the list of six mindful books on building resilience.
If you’re not familiar with Mindful Magazine and Mindful.org, I hope you take this opportunity to avail yourself to the knowledgeable, current advice and information about mindfulness practice that is available there. Discover how to bring mindfulness into your every day life with Mindful Magazine’s easy-to-access information and tips. What better time than the beginning of a new year to make a commitment to your life by simply being more present for it.
From the top ten list, here are the ones I’m most excited about. I talk to people all of the time (including myself) who are working on how to deal with their “inner critic,” which is the topic of Mark Coleman’s book, How Mindfulness and Compassion Can Free You from Your Inner Critic. I was fortunate enough to hear Daniel Siegel and Emma Seppälä speak at the recent Mindful Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. They are imminent researchers in the field of mindfulness and their books on the mind and happiness, respectively, will be based in long term scientific study on their topics. After that, I think the new book by Charles Duhigg, The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business, is just what I need as someone who probably says “yes” too much at the cost of focus and productivity.
But, don’t take my word for it, check the lists out for yourself and dive into a good book on mindfulness this year. Of course, reading about mindfulness does not replace practice. You can find many types of meditation and yoga practices on my website that you can download and use at any time. Enjoy each moment!
