Visit your local Farmer’s Market !

Maybe you are lucky enough to have a farmer’s market year round in your area but in Columbia, Missouri, we are only seasonal at this juncture.  The good news!  The 30th Anniversary Season of Your Columbia Farmers’ Market begins this Saturday, March 20, from 8:00 a.m. to noon and is located at the corner of Clinkscales and Ash (by the ARC).  The produce available and in season includes spinach and lettuce mixes and green onions.  Also available from local producers find beef, pork, lamb, chicken, eggs, baked goods, honey, honey ice cream, fresh trout, organic beef & pork & eggs. The plants (for starting your garden) include blueberry bushes, blackberry bushes, a wide variety of herbs, scallions, broccoli, lettuces, and cauliflower.  Did you know that FOOD STAMPS can be used to purchase edible plants and food producing plants? That’s right! Go to the Market Oasis for more information. Featured Entertainment: Apostles Creek will welcome us to opening day! This band hails from Holt Summit and will be performing from 9am – 11am.  No matter where you are, visit your local market this week and join in the fun of eating local and eating healthy.
