Winter Yoga Retreat at Pura Vida Spa and Resort: Sign up NOW! Spaces are filling up!

“Throw away your preconceived notions of a yoga retreat! You will not subsist on tofu or chant om all day and night.  Instead, you will be challenged, loved, and laugh a lot in a peaceful and verdant setting with kind and caring people, joined together in a journey for self-awareness.”  (D. Checkett, past participant)

Join me for a week next winter at the Pura Vida Spa and Resort for a relaxing, rejuvenating, invigorating, and healing yoga journey in Costa Rica. From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave, you will be held in a loving environment by the teachers and staff which will allow you to settle in and enjoy all that this special place has to offer.

A phrase that you will hear and see everywhere in Costa Rica is “Pura Vida.” Its English translation means “pure life” or “simple life”, however, it’s more than just a phrase–it is a way of life. It is used to mean “hey”, “what’s up”, “how are you?”, “take care”, “goodbye”, and almost any other greeting you can think of. I get the sense that it also means “don’t worry, be happy.” And, in your weeklong retreat, this is the message that will sink into your bones and melt away your worries and cares.

You’ll be starting each morning with a Kripalu yoga practice. Follow that with a lovely breakfast. Mid-morning will be an eco-adventure, a workshop, engaging in bodywork, or just relaxing. Many people say that just staying at Pura Vida was the best use of their time. Certainly for me, lounging by the pool or sitting in the hot tub and chatting with lovely people is one of my favorite things to do. Before dinner, there are a variety of workshops such as restorative yoga, calming rituals, Energy Medicine Yoga, mindful eating, and mindfulness. My dear friend and colleague, Chrissy Mignogna, will join me again this year as an assistant teacher. Together we will help you journey to a place of peace and joy!

And did I mention the food? The food is fresh, local, and meets any food requirements you might have. One of my favorite things about Pura Vida is the three delicious meals served to me every day—particularly the fresh fruit (papaya, mango, coconut, and pineapple), lovely vegetables (many salads and vegetable entrees), and fish. Of course, my favorite might be the Tres leches cake!! It is truly a slice of heaven.

Lastly, the weather. What could be more luxurious that a warm tropical breeze in the middle of the winter? The weather is just about perfect—not too hot and not too cold. There is a coolness to the air in the morning and it warms up for a nice sunbath in the afternoon by the pool or in the hot tub.

Here are some more testimonials from past participants:

“This was my second time at Lynn’s yoga retreat, and I loved it as much as the first. Pura Vida Retreat and Spa is perfect for a restorative winter getaway. The facilities, in a lush tropical setting in the mountains above San Jose with beautiful views of the valley below, are first rate, and the food and the spa treatments exceeded expectations.  Best of all were the 2 to 3 times daily that our group of 25 gathered for asana, pranayama, energy medicine, restorative yoga, and other class sessions.” N. Krawitz

It was a wonderful, relaxing opportunity that gave me the space to reconnect with myself — while connecting with the great group of people you brought together! The experience was the perfect mix that I needed.” K. Smith

This was a great trip, a great group of people, and a great yoga practice in an incredibly beautiful mountainside spotDefinitely returning.” D. Conway
